Decommissioning sequence / six connected phases

Audit the room and rack scope.
Confirm rooms, rack positions, asset references, active boundaries, access, staging, outbound constraints, and open technical decisions.
- 02 / Authorization
Confirm shutdown and disconnect authority.
Identify who approves shutdown, network or power isolation, and removal readiness before field work begins.
- 03 / De-rack
Keep rack context connected.
Remove approved equipment in the planned order while preserving identifiers, media decisions, accessories, exceptions, and any protected adjacent infrastructure.
- 04 / Scan & stage
Capture assets and separate disposition groups.
Use the staging plan for inventory events, packing, data-bearing devices, remarketing groups, retained items, recycling, and unresolved exceptions.
- 05 / Transport
Move each group to its approved destination.
Coordinate packaging, loading, transport handoffs, destinations, and receiving requirements for each disposition group.
- 06 / Reconcile
Close the site and reporting together.
Review remaining equipment, racks, cabling, site condition, access return, exceptions, and the agreed final documentation.

Final review should make the approved scope, field exceptions, outbound asset groups, and remaining site condition clear.
